Open House Porto 2025: Ten years opening the doors to architecture

The 10th edition of Open House Porto (OHP) celebrates a decade of architectural exploration, reinforcing its role as one of the most important international events dedicated to urban architecture. On the weekend of 5 and 6 July 2025, Casa da Arquitectura once again invites the public to explore more than 70 spaces free of charge, including some of the most unique buildings in the cities of Maia, Matosinhos, Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia, providing a unique experience of immersion in built heritage that is usually inaccessible.

Reaching a decade of editions reaffirms the relevance of OHP in bringing the population closer to urban space. As the only Open House in the world to cover four cities in the same territorial event, this edition reinforces its unique identity by bringing together different geographies and urban contexts under the same curatorial gaze.

In this commemorative edition, the selection of spaces was entrusted to Casa da Arquitectura, which revisited the nine previous editions to create a diverse itinerary. Visitors will thus have the opportunity to rediscover the most visited and sought-after locations, as well as emblematic and unusual spaces.

But there are also some new features: this edition will serve as a pretext to discover some of the most interesting works completed in the last five years in the four cities involved, further enriching the experience of participants.

The format of Open House Porto remains faithful to its original concept, offering a varied itinerary that covers different architectural typologies, styles and chronologies. The visits will be accompanied by a team of volunteers and experts, providing an in-depth look at each space.

In addition to the visits, the programme will be enriched by the Caleidoscópio and Plus programmes, initiatives that offer activities open and accessible to all audiences, promoting interaction and debate around architecture and the city.

All visits and activities are free of charge, reaffirming Open House Porto’s commitment to democratising access to architecture and urban heritage. This 10th edition invites everyone to celebrate architecture and the city through a renewed look at the spaces that surround us.

How It Works

During the weekend everyone is invited to get to know totally free of charge, a program with diverse spaces in their typology and from different times. Each participant can create his own itinerary to their liking, exploring the architecture and the city through new eyes.

Visit Formats

Free Visit — visit the space without forming groups within the stipulated time;

Accompanied Visit — visit the space with groups guided by the Open House Porto team of volunteers;

Guided Visit — visit the space with groups guided by the author of the architectural project or by a guest expert.

Ways of Accessing the Visits

Access to the vast majority of visits is WITHOUT APPOINTMENT, ON A FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED BASIS. Only two people per submission will be allowed. To make your reservation, go to the ‘Itinerary’ menu, select the desired space and look for the ‘Reservation’ item.

For the ‘Itinerary for Inclusion’ visits included in the Kaleidoscope Programme, participation in the guided tour for blind and visually impaired people will be via ACAPO and for visits with LGP translation on a first-come, first-served basis with priority for deaf people.

Accessibility

All locations on the itinerary will have detailed information indicating full, partial or no access for people with reduced mobility. The indication of partial accessibility means that some areas of the location may not be accessible or may have physical barriers to access. Architecture will have its doors open: be a part of this experience!
