Description
The request was clear: to build a PANIKE experience, even before the idea of renovating the PANIKE headquarters, which ultimately became the architectural intervention. It was to be a virtual, sensory, immersive experience — a non-place with past, present, and future. We can occasionally detach ourselves from the flow of time, but the non-place is not permanent. Once the experience ends, we return — disappointed — to the space-time reality we inhabit. Immersive experiences are dereferenced bubbles. We began by timidly carrying out a partial reorganisation, focusing on 450 m² of the middle floor (reception and Panike Experience areas), even though the urgent need was to renovate the 2,400 m² comprising the administrative building. During the development of the project, our insistence on the complete refurbishment of the building was accepted. The interior space is composed of transparency and sharing. We added a foreign body — the lift — as alien as it is to the original mass. (Version adapted from the author’s original text)
