Description
The Águas Santas Civic Centre plays a central role in the organisation and provision of public services to the community, having been conceived as a space for civic and institutional convergence. The services of the Águas Santas Parish Council are centralised in this building, providing direct assistance to citizens in areas such as local administration, social support and community dynamism. It also houses the Citizen Space, the Senior University, a branch of the Municipalised Water and Sanitation Services (SMAS), the Local Information Service Office (GAIL) and the Manuel Correia Auditorium. This building articulates the various uses in an exemplary way, both in its interior relationship and in the relationship between the interior and the exterior, also designed for the enjoyment of the community. The Civic Centre also stands out for its supra-municipal vocation, as it houses the headquarters of the Eixo Atlântico do Noroeste Peninsular - a cross-border cooperation entity that promotes sustainable development and territorial integration between cities in the north of Portugal and Galicia.
