Description

The Titan is a large, century-old iron crane, unique in the world, which had the capacity to lift 50 tonnes of stone and which enabled the construction of what is currently one of the largest ports on the Iberian Peninsula and the largest artificial port in the country, a major driver of the local and national economy. In 2023, the Port of Leixões received 2,400 cargo ships and exported to 184 countries. The Titan was restored in 2021 and is an essential part of the history and identity of the Port of Leixões, the city of Matosinhos and Portugal’s industrial heritage.
