Description
Pole II of Colégio Efanor, designed by Paula Santos Arquitectura to accommodate around 700 students, is built on a plot of around 13,000m² and is an outstanding example of how architecture can serve education with sensitivity and rigour. The main building, orientated east-west, has three floors, adapting to the morphology of the site with a curved façade that softens the transition between the different volumes. At the south-east end of the campus, the sports complex stands out, comprising a gymnastics pavilion, a 25-metre swimming pool and dance studios. The pavilion, built in a metal structure and covered in polycarbonate, allows for visual permeability and diffused light, suitable for sports practice. The swimming pool and dance school, on the other hand, are made of exposed concrete and offer more introspective and light-controlled spaces, suited to the activities they host. This ensemble shows a harmonious integration between function, form and materiality, providing environments that stimulate the physical and intellectual development of the students.
