Description
The site, located on the escarpment of Rua Sobre o Douro, is made up of four terraces, accessed by stairs from the street. Given the configuration of the land and the small size of the terraces, two separate volumes were created. On the first terrace, in a volume attached to the upper platform, a small studio was built for visitors, while the second volume was located on the third and fourth terraces, organised over 3 floors and connecting to a small existing building that was restored and extended. The volumetric fragmentation was intended to accompany the occupation that characterises the slopes of the River Douro. A small circular swimming pool was located on the middle platform, using part of the studio’s roof.
