Description
What life is there in the city of the dead? It lives above all in the memory of the departed and those who take care to keep it present. Many of the stories of the city of the living can be found in the buildings that serve as their home, often of remarkable architectural and artistic quality: the wealth and opulence of some of its inhabitants perpetuated in family tombs, both neo-Gothic and modern, as well as the interrupted construction of a monumental church that would link to Rua de S. Vítor. We invite you to visit Porto’s first public cemetery at night, founded in 1839, and discover a place where memories of the city are kept. (Paula Santos and Ivo Poças Martins, OHP’17)
