Description

Quinta dos Cónegos, in Maia, expresses the spirit of the 18th century and the influence of the Baroque. An appeal to construction that marvels, that transforms nature into an aesthetic appeal, that moulds taste to the period. The earliest recorded building dates back to the 17th century, known at the time as Quinta de Barreiros. Some authors place the current building between 1727 and 1737 (18th century), in the purest Baroque style and strongly influenced by the Nasoni school. It is a space of memory, of continuous renovation without losing the thread of time, from the baroque to the gardens, from water to stone, from the white of the walls to the green of nature. In the early 1990s, Quinta dos Cónegos was completely renovated in accordance with the architectural and decoration project by António Pinto Leite, helped by the dedicated collaboration of Pais de Figueiredo and Santos Farinha.
