Description
Of the existing residential building, accessed from Calçada da Serra and leaning against the escarpment, only the granite façade and side gables remain. Within these limits, in order to accommodate six holiday flats, an exposed concrete structure was inserted. In the middle of the complex, dividing it into two halves, an inhabited wall meets the requirements of this new function: the bathrooms and kitchens of each unit and a lift. The view over the Ribeira do Porto from the bedrooms is extraordinary, but on the patio side, the intervention allowed the exposed cliff to take centre stage, acting as a mineral backdrop for the flats that open onto it with large windows.
