Description
After several years of professional practice, in July 1995 the architects Alfredo Ascensão and Paulo Henriques started a joint venture in the field of architecture, which resulted in January 1996 in the creation of the firm “Alfredo Ascensão & Paulo Henriques, Arquitectos, lda”. Since then, their professional activity has been developed in the various areas of the profession, namely in the design of residential buildings (single-family, collective, social and cooperative), facilities (social, sports and others), hotels, restoration of historic buildings and land planning. His professional practice has been recognized through the award of various individual and collective prizes, including 1st place in the Europan 5 international competition in 1998 for the Ponte de Anta housing project in Espinho, and the João de Almada prize in 2010, awarded by Porto City Council for the best restoration of a building in the city in the 2008/2010 biennium, for the restoration of the Palácio das Artes in the city’s historic area.
